Muay Thai is an ancient art. It is a combat sport that became widespread in the 19th century. It is referred to as the ‘Art of Eight Limbs’ and is also known as  Thai boxing or Thai kickboxing. Unlike conventional boxing and kickboxing, as well as punches and kicks, Muay Thai also involves knee strikes and the feared elbow strikes for close range combat. It is the ultimate martial art. Muay Thai was formerly known as Muay Boran and was used as a practical fighting technique for use in warfare. It later became a spectators sport and the national sport of Thailand.

Muay Thai offers the best interval based (fartlek) cardiovascular training session on the face of the earth, combining the fast twitch muscle fibres (high definition) and a maximum cardio output together in a fun and challenging format.

Our chief instructor trains and has competed in Thailand and across Europe, so experience is second to none. Lessons can be tailored for optimum fitness and self defence techniques through to bout related skills for competition level.

Muay Thai is offered as one-on-one training sessions and group classes. Classes are offered on a pay-as-you-go basis, with women’s Thai Fit on a Friday and Saturday morning and a mixed Muay Thai class on a Tuesday night where sparring is offered as an option. Please visit the classes page for more information.
